Mary Valley Show Society

2010 sees the Mary Valley Show Society enter its 91st year of being. It is an admirable age for a country show society and as it did in its early days carries a very strong membership today.
The township of Imbil in the picturesque Mary Valley enjoys the showgrounds in its midst and plays host to the various communities in the valley who combine to create the Mary Valley Show .

The Imbil Community Hall is situated within the grounds and is cared for by the Show Society. They continually fundraise to ensure the hall is kept in good order for the use of all. Major refurbishment is at the present being undertaken by the Show Society with some funding assistance from Community Futures Task Force.

Throughout the year the society hold minor and major functions for the purposes of fundraising for the upkeep of the hall and grounds as well as to conduct the annual Mary Valley Show. Shows in this day and age are extremely expensive to run and require an enormous amount of organisation and work from hard working volunteers but the efforts are rewarding for all involved.

The International Car Rally of Qld

is held annually in the Imbil and Kenilworth State Forests. Mary Valley Show Society provides the venue for the Service Park at the Imbil Showgrounds. For 2 weeks, the grounds are a hub of activity, with car containers arriving from overseas, the assembly of temporary service depots, and campsites being set up. As the event draws closer, each day sees the grounds filled more and more with rally infrastructure.
The Rally has now become an international event attracting competitors from NZ, Japan and Asia. The first leg of the event is held at an overseas location then transfers to Imbil for the final stages. For car and rally enthusiasts, this is an event not to be missed. Spectators are most welcome and well catered for, with the opportunity to view the cars at the grounds or the actual racing within designated spectator areas in the forest. Transport to and from the forest is available from the grounds. Hot food and drinks are also available at both viewing areas.
This year Saturday night at the Showgrounds will see a concert with major bands performing live, a small cover charge which will include dinner will apply.
